‘I quit adult industry after marrying husband – there’s one thing I’ll miss’

An adult star who made more than 100 films says there’s one thing she’ll miss after quitting the industry.

April Olsen “stepped away” from porn after three years when she got married, having made around 100 films and being nominated for several awards. She initially turned sex work as she “needed money” after graduating but never planned to stick to the career.

“My quitting process started second that I walked onto a set,” she told podcaster Holly Randall. “I was thinking ‘okay how are we going to get ourselves out of this?’ I thought I was going to do a five-year plan, but it ended up being around three which I’m okay with.”

A turning point came when she finally married her husband, which put an end to her career as it “changed me”. Her other half was “nonchalant” about her career and even joined her in videos during Covid.

Now she’s no longer involved in the porn industry, she can say how she really feels about it. She explained: ”I don’t have to worry about offending a large group of men whose feelings will get hurt if I don’t say I’m super horny all the time. I’m actually not horny ever … sometimes in the mornings and then it fades off during the day. I’ll miss the ladies though.”

April, who now works as an intimacy co-ordinator for mainstream film and TV, says that as long as she was in porn, she was playing a role off-set as well as on. She explained: “I felt like I couldn’t really be myself, because I had to be a different version who was…c***-hungry or something. That was actually never me, I’m fine without it?

“I think maybe I was a bad porn star in a way, because I did keep it pretty clinical.”
