Iba Habeeb Okunola to grab Detribalised Philanthropist of the Year at charity awards Dec 28
Akosin of Yorubaland and the Group Managing Director of Tilt Group, Iba Habeeb Olalekan Okunola, will be named the 2022 Detribalised Philanthropist of the Year at the GLOWFUX Charity Concert & Awards coming up in two days, December 28, 2022, to be precise.
According to the organisers of the event in a release made available to Freelanews, Chief Okunola’s passion for helping the needy which cuts across religious and tribal biases is one of the distinguishable qualities that stood him out for the honour.
“An intensive study of recommendations of his sterling records in the service to humanity in various areas of life, his passion for helping the needy from different walks of life without religious or ethnical bias and of course, his spirit of nationalism which is evidenced in the fact that his best friends are from the northern and eastern parts of the nation, informed the decision of GLOWFUX Hall of Charity committee to approve his nomination as GLOWFUX Detribalised Philanthropist of the Year 2022,” the release read.
While noting that the award category is a new creation, targeted at celebrating Nigerians with a record of humanitarian exploits with national spread, the organisers of the prestigious award emphasised that the Akosin of Yorubaland’s story is a perfect example of staying focused on the goal of achieving greatness in people regardless of their religious backgrounds, ethnicity or social status. Hence, sufficiently making him eligible as the first recipient of the award.
He is reputed as a leader of leaders in various industries, a friend of the poor and the downtrodden, and an ardent believer in ‘empowerment as a proof of wealth’.
Before establishing Tilt Group, Chief Okunola held various management positions in project management, market development and so on in leading companies in the United Kingdom and Nigeria.
Over the last decade, his philanthropical gestures implemented through the vehicle of his non-profit organisation, Chief Habeeb Okunola Foundation, have impacted millions of vulnerable and underserved people in Nigeria and the Benin Republic, most especially in the area of financial inclusion, education, health and prison reforms.
GLOWFUX Charity Concert is an annual humanitarian event for sharing end-of-the-year festivities with orphanages and special homes across Lagos. This year’s edition will be held at the Dan & Den Lounge, Elegushi Beach Front, Lekki, Lagos between 11:00 am to 6:00 pm on December 28, 2022.
Also receiving awards on that day are HRM Oba Adedokun Abolarin, the Orangun of Oke-Ila as GLOWFUX Man of the Year 2022, Olori Sekinat Aramide Elegushi as GLOWFUX Woman of the Year 2022, Airtel Nigeria as GLOWFUX Socially Responsible Company of the Year and Ark of Relief Foundation as GLOWFUX NGO of the Year 2022.
