Ibadan fire outbreak property damage leaves residential building and truck destroyed, with losses running into millions of naira
Properties worth millions of naira were destroyed on Tuesday following two separate fire incidents in Ibadan, Oyo State, one involving a residential building and another a truck loaded with palm kernel shafts.

Property damage from Ibadan fire outbreak, occurred at Sabo Suya Road, Mokola, where an ancient six-room residential building was engulfed in flames and thick smoke, leaving extensive destruction behind.
In a separate incident along the Alakia Expressway, a moving Iveco trailer truck carrying palm kernel shafts was also consumed by fire, raising concerns over road safety and transport hazards involving flammable materials.
Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Hon. Maroof Akinwande, confirmed both incidents in a statement on Tuesday evening, noting that no lives were lost in either case, a relief amid the significant property losses.
According to Akinwande, firefighters arrived at the residential scene to find the building already fully alight, while the truck fire occurred while the vehicle was in motion near a petrol station, further heightening the risk of escalation.
Although the causes of both fires remain under investigation, authorities have urged residents and motorists to exercise greater caution, particularly when handling combustible materials.

The incidents have once again highlighted the vulnerability of urban infrastructure to sudden fire outbreaks, despite the absence of casualties.
