The Ikate Rotary President Installation of Rotarian Dominic Chukwuemeka as the 40th President of the Rotary Club of Ikate, District 9112, took place on Saturday at Blessing Hall, Eko Club, Lagos, marking a significant moment in the club’s 40-year humanitarian journey and the unveiling of community projects valued at N29.25 million for the 2026–2027 Rotary year.
Rotarian Dominic Chukwuemeka assumed leadership during the club’s Ruby Jubilee celebration, which brought together Rotarians, community stakeholders, and dignitaries to reflect on four decades of service and renewed ambition for deeper impact across Lagos communities, including Ikate and Surulere.

Founded in 1986, the Rotary Club of Ikate has built a steady legacy of humanitarian interventions spanning healthcare, education, youth empowerment, environmental sustainability, and infrastructure support.
The 40th anniversary ceremony was both reflective and forward-looking, with members describing the milestone as a turning point in the club’s visibility and relevance.
Speaking after his installation, Rotarian Chukwuemeka pledged to steer the club with renewed focus and measurable outcomes, describing the moment as both humbling and demanding in responsibility.
“Rotary has never been about one person; it has always been about people of action coming together to make a difference,” Chukwuemeka said. “This administration will focus on fewer but more impactful projects that deliver real value to communities.”
The Ikate Rotary President Installation also featured the unveiling of a 10-point community development agenda covering health, education, empowerment, peace-building, and environmental action.
The portfolio includes N4 million for medical outreach, N3 million for education support and school refurbishment, and N4.5 million for the renovation of sanitation facilities in a government secondary school.
Additional allocations include N7.5 million for library renovation and school support materials, N2.75 million for youth and women empowerment programmes, and N1.5 million for peace and conflict resolution seminars, among other interventions designed to strengthen grassroots development.
Chairman of the Installation Committee, Rotarian Isaac Ero, who is also the President-Elect of the Rotary Club of Ikate, while speaking with Freelanews correspondent, Peter Yakub, described Rotarian Chukwuemeka as a highly committed and impactful member of the club, popularly referred to as “Capacity” for his consistent involvement in service activities.
Past District Governor Bola Oyebade described the club’s 40-year journey as “remarkable and impactful,” noting that its contributions to clean water, education, and healthcare initiatives reflect Rotary’s enduring commitment to service.
“We have seen consistent dedication from this club over the years,” Oyebade said. “The expectation now is to deepen impact and expand the reach of these humanitarian interventions.”
The club’s Public Image Director, Eriata Oribhabor, noted that the organisation is transitioning from being perceived as a smaller local club into a more visible and influential platform under its emerging identity, “Ikate to World,” a shift aimed at strengthening its presence within Rotary District 9112 and beyond.
The Ruby Jubilee celebration also served as a moment of recognition for key contributors and long-serving members, reinforcing the club’s collective identity and shared responsibility in sustaining its humanitarian mission.
With the Ikate Rotary President Installation now concluded and a N29.25 million project portfolio unveiled, the Rotary Club of Ikate enters its 41st year with renewed urgency, ambition, and a clearer focus on measurable community transformation.
