Imo nursing student murder investigation intensifies as police launch manhunt and arrest one suspect over killing in Obowo LGA
Imo State Police Command has launched a manhunt for the suspected killers of a female nursing student, Wendy Achumba, who was found murdered in her apartment in Umudara, Obowo Local Government Area.

The Command’s spokesperson, Henry Okoye, confirmed that operatives had been deployed to the area immediately after the incident was reported, as part of efforts to track down those responsible.
He stated that officers, including the Divisional Police Officer, visited the scene for an on the spot assessment, after which the victim’s body was recovered and deposited at the morgue.
According to the police, a special tactical squad has also been assigned to the case, with investigations already underway to uncover the circumstances surrounding the killing.
The investigation into the killing of the Imo nursing student has stepped up with authorities confirming that one suspect has been arrested for preliminary questioning to assist ongoing inquiries.
Okoye assured residents that the situation is under control, urging students and members of the public to remain calm while security agencies continue efforts to apprehend all individuals involved.
He added that the Command remains committed to ensuring that justice is served and that those responsible are brought to book without delay.
