Imo State Police react as officers beat students with cutlass over phone access (Video)

The Imo State Police Command has reacted and frowned at a viral video of some of its personnel brutalising some students ‘for refusing to allow access to their phones.’

In the video, officers were seen in an unmarked burnt red coloured Toyota Sienna rough-handling and beating some young lads suspected to be students of Imo State University in Owerri with cutlass while dragging them into the vehicle.

In a response captured by Freelanews, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Henry Okoye, stated that the action of its men was unacceptable and promised investigation into the incident.

“This is totally unacceptable, it’s not our standards❌❌ Imo Police Command is aware of this obscene video and we are currently investigating to indentify the team of officers,” Okoye wrote.

While promising that justice will prevail, the PRO also dropped a mobile number for the public to report such occurence.

“The victims of this harassment are encouraged to reach me via 08148024755. Justice must prevail!!” he said.
