Israel closes schools and workplaces from Feb 28 to Mar 2 after launching strikes on Iran, citing security concerns and essential activity only
The Jerusalem municipality ordered schools and workplaces to close starting Saturday, following Israel’s preemptive military strikes on Iran, with the measure set to remain in effect until 1800 GMT on Monday.

In a statement, the municipality cited assessments by the Home Front Command, stating that the country would transition “from full activity to essential activity throughout the country.”
The directive specified that all educational activities, public gatherings, and non-essential work are suspended. Only workers designated as essential are permitted to operate during the closure period.
The policy comes amid heightened tensions following Israel’s military operations against Iran, signalling significant precautions to safeguard civilians and critical infrastructure.
Authorities urged residents to adhere strictly to the guidelines, emphasising that the closure was temporary but necessary given the security situation.
