In a surprising turn of events, Lagos State Governor,His Excellency, Mr. Baba Jide Sanwoolu has dis-engaged Prince Adedamola Docemo, the current Managing Director of the Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA).

This is also coming on the heels of the state government’s disengagement of some heads of agencies and parastatals in a move believed to be aimed at injecting fresh dynamism into those agencies and bodies.

The governor’s decision comes as part of a significant restructuring effort following his return to office for the second term tenure

The disengagement of Prince Adedamola Docemo in a letter signed by the state Head of Service,( HOS) Mr Habeeb Muri- Okunola has sent shockwaves throughout the industry, leaving many industry players dumb-founded.

However, in line with the government’s ongoing efforts to reorganize its ministries, departments, and agencies for Governor Sanwo-Olu’s second term, it was decided that agency heads whose tenures are ending this year should step aside now to facilitate a comprehensive reorganization process.”

The stepping aside order marks the end of Docemo’s tenure as the Managing Director of LASAA. This development signals a clear intention on the part of Governor Sanwoolu to implement sweeping changes and revamp key sectors within the state administration.

Docemo assumed the role of the Managing Director and CEO of LASAA in 2019/2020, following his appointment by Lagos State Governor, his appointment by then had put an end to speculations within the outdoor advertising industry regarding the purported tenure extension of the former LASAA boss, Bolaji Sanusi.

Sanwo-Olu had terminated Sanusi’s appointment as his tenure reached its expiration, making way for Docemo to take over the reins.

Prince Adedamola Docemo’s tenure as the Managing Director of LASAA witnessed significant developments in the signage and advertisement industry within Lagos State as he ensured a harmonious coexistence between businesses and citizens.

While his removal will undoubtedly shake the agency and its stakeholders, the attention now shifts towards the appointment of a new helmsman who will steer LASAA into the next phase of its operations.

Governor Sanwoolu’s administration is expected to conduct a rigorous selection process to identify a capable and visionary leader who can effectively drive the agency’s objectives forward.

The coming days will also likely witness intense lobbying, discussions and analyses surrounding the restructuring efforts initiated by the Lagos State Governor. The impact of these changes on the overall governance and administration of Lagos State remains to be seen.

As the state moves forward with its renewed vision and Greater Lagos rising mantra, all eyes are on the governor’s office for further announcements and details regarding the restructuring process and the future direction of LASAA under a new leadership.
