The 31-year-old Canadian pop star stepped onto the stage at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles wearing only underwear and socks, a purple guitar slung across his shoulder, as he performed his Grammy-nominated track Yukon.
The minimalist entrance drew immediate cheers from the audience and set the tone for one of the night’s most talked-about moments.
Unlike the elaborate productions that dominated the evening, Justin Bieber kept his Grammys return deliberately intimate.
Singing softly with his arms folded across his chest and eyes closed, the singer created a quiet, reflective atmosphere that contrasted sharply with the surrounding spectacle.
When the performance ended, he exited the stage without fanfare, leaving the crowd visibly stunned.
The appearance marked a significant milestone for Bieber, who has largely remained out of the spotlight since cancelling his Justice world tour in 2022 due to health concerns.
His return to the Grammys also signals a gradual re-entry into live performance, ahead of his scheduled headline set at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in April, his first major US concert since the tour cancellation.
Bieber’s performance comes as he campaigns for four Grammy nominations, including Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album for Swag, his surprise R and B-leaning release in July.
The project represents a notable artistic shift, moving away from mainstream pop toward a more soulful and restrained sound.
Away from the stage, Bieber’s personal life has remained under public attention. He and his wife, model Hailey Bieber, welcomed their first child, Jack Blues Bieber, in 2024.
During Sunday’s performance, cameras briefly cut to Hailey Bieber watching from the audience with a supportive smile.
