KASU University of London MoU set as Kaduna State advances digital learning partnership to boost distance education and global competitiveness

Kaduna State Commissioner of Education, Professor Abubakar Sani Sambo, has announced plans for a Memorandum of Understanding between Kaduna State University and the University of London as part of efforts to expand digital and distance learning in the state.

Professor Sambo disclosed this following the participation of a high-level Kaduna delegation at the 2026 Research in Distance and E-Learning Conference held at the University of London.

The delegation, which included five professors, engaged with global experts in digital, blended, and distance education during the conference.

The KASU University of London MoU is expected to strengthen collaboration between both institutions, particularly in building capacity for online education and improving access to modern learning tools.

According to Sambo, discussions with the University of London’s Centre for Online and Distance Education opened pathways for institutional partnership aimed at enhancing academic delivery.

As part of the proposed collaboration, a pilot Central Learning Management System is expected to be deployed at Kaduna State University to serve as a model for wider implementation.

The initiative will also include training for academic staff in digital pedagogy and modern course delivery methods.

Professor Sambo noted that the partnership will involve joint research activities and academic exchange programmes, with technical support from the Centre for Online and Distance Education to strengthen digital learning infrastructure.

He described the development as a significant step toward aligning Kaduna State’s education system with global best practices.

The Commissioner further stated that the engagement validates ongoing reforms in the state’s education sector, including the expansion of hybrid learning models and computer-based assessment systems.

He added that efforts are being made to improve access to education through technology, particularly for learners in underserved and remote communities.

The delegation also included key figures such as Professor Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa, Vice Chancellor of Kaduna State University, and other senior academic and administrative officials who contributed to discussions during the conference.
