The administration of Governor Yahaya Bello has mandated that all elementary, secondary, and post-secondary educational institutions in the state observe a required holiday from Friday, November 10 to Tuesday, November 14, 2023.

Wemi Jones, the Kogi State Commissioner for Science, Technology, and Education issues out the holiday

Jones stated that this holiday was in observance of the November 11 governorship election in a statement that was made public on Tuesday.

He stated that on Wednesday, November 15, regular academic sessions will resume in schools.

The commissioner also expressed her wish for a calm election and gave the people confidence that the government would provide a safe and supportive atmosphere to ensure a free, fair, and credible election.

Yahaya Bello Blocked Dino Melaye From Using Lokoja Stadium For Campaign – PDP

In other developments, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) claims that Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello is preventing its candidate for governor, Dino Melaye, from holding his campaign’s grand finale at Lokoja Stadium.

The PDP National Spokesperson, Debo Ologunagba, told reporters in Abuja on Tuesday that the governor turned down the party’s request to use the stadium for the governorship campaign finale.

According  to Ologunagba, the opposition PDP is not in charge of state security, thus the risk of violence in the state should not be linked to the party.
