The honour was conferred on Karim during the institution’s 15th convocation ceremony, held on Wednesday in Osun State.

The award acknowledged his leadership in the private sector, particularly in the oil and gas industry, as well as his long-standing commitment to education and social development.

Karim is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Shoreline International, an energy services company with operations in Nigeria and beyond.

Over the years, he has built a reputation as a strategic entrepreneur, navigating the complexities of the oil and gas sector while expanding the company’s footprint across Africa.

In his convocation address, Karim emphasised the importance of education, discipline and commitment as pathways to achieving long-term goals.

He described education as a critical foundation for national development and urged graduates to remain focused and resilient in the face of challenges.

The recognition drew tributes from business leaders, academics and community stakeholders, who described the award as a reflection of Karim’s influence within Nigeria’s business landscape.

His role as a philanthropist was also highlighted, with supporters noting his investments in education, community development and humanitarian causes.

Beyond corporate leadership, Karim is regarded as a prominent figure in Ibadanland, where he holds a traditional title that reflects his standing within the community.

Observers say his career illustrates the growing intersection between private enterprise, social responsibility and indigenous leadership in modern Nigeria.
