Kwankwaso vows loyalty to his ideals as NNPP faces major resignations in Kano, insisting he will not compromise for power
Former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party and leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has reaffirmed his commitment to his political ideals, declaring that he would not compromise his principles for personal gain.

Kwankwaso spoke in Kano on Friday while addressing supporters at his residence, shortly after Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, alongside several local government chairmen, members of the House of Representatives and political aides, resigned from the NNPP.
Addressing the gathering, Kwankwaso said his long standing political struggle had always been driven by the desire to uplift ordinary Nigerians rather than personal ambition.
According to him, the Kwankwaso vows loyalty message was rooted in years of sacrifice and consistency.
“I’m not for sale. Our political convictions keep me grounded. If I were in it for personal gain, I would have taken the easy route and you would be looking for me elsewhere, not in this place,” he said.
He explained that the Kwankwasiyya Movement had survived and expanded because of shared values and collective purpose, not material inducements.
He said greed had never been the motivation behind his political choices.
“Our shared vision is what keeps me going. If I were motivated by greed, I would have taken the money and run, and you would not be here showing your support,” Kwankwaso added.
The former presidential candidate urged his supporters to intensify early mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections, warning against complacency in the face of recent political developments.
He stressed that loyalty and perseverance were essential, noting that those who remained committed to the movement would eventually see the results of their sacrifices. Kwankwaso said the current political climate in Kano required immediate and strategic preparation.
“Going by what is happening in Kano today, we need to start preparing because there are people hell bent on destroying what we built over time,” he said.
Reaffirming his stance, Kwankwaso assured supporters that his resolve remained unshaken. He said his political mission had always been to defend the interests of ordinary people and resist exploitation by the elite.
