Lagos Assembly confirms Adelabu as LASPA GM, resolves land dispute

Lagos Assembly confirms Adelabu LASPA GM and resolves LASUSTECH land dispute, approving 50 hectares compensation in Ikorodu

The Lagos State House of Assembly on Monday confirmed Mrs Adebisi Adelabu as General Manager of the Lagos State Parking Authority and adopted a committee report resolving a long standing land dispute involving the Lagos State University of Science and Technology.

Speaker Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, who presided over plenary, announced the confirmation pursuant to Section 92 of the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law, 2018.

The Lagos Assembly confirms Adelabu LASPA GM decision followed months of legislative scrutiny.

Adelabu’s nomination had been stepped down in January for further consideration.

Lawmakers said a rigorous screening exercise addressed earlier concerns. Members praised Adelabu’s professional competence and strategic plans to strengthen parking regulation and boost operational efficiency across the state.

The confirmation was approved through a voice vote. The Clerk of the House was directed to communicate the resolution to the state government.

In a separate but significant resolution, the Assembly unanimously adopted recommendations of its Committee on Rules and Business over a petition concerning disputed land in Ikorodu.

The Committee, chaired by Majority Leader Hon. Noheem Adams, found that the descendants of Segun Eyingbala are the original customary owners of the property, which was formerly part of LASPOTECH before its transition to LASUSTECH.

As part of a decisive settlement, the House resolved that the state government should allocate 50 hectares of land in a suitable location within Ikorodu to the family as compensation.

Members commended the Committee’s thorough investigation and described the resolution as fair and legally grounded.

The dual decisions underscored the Assembly’s oversight role in executive appointments and its intervention in community sensitive disputes within the state.
