Lagos Assembly members have passed a vote of confidence on Speaker Obasa, praising his commitment to democracy as they celebrate his 52nd birthday.

On Monday, members of the Lagos State House of Assembly unanimously passed a vote of confidence in Speaker Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, expressing satisfaction with his ongoing leadership of the legislative body.

Majority Leader Noheem Adams, leading the motion during a plenary presided over by Deputy Speaker Mojisola Lasbat Meranda, highlighted Speaker Obasa’s consistent efforts to consult and collaborate with fellow lawmakers on all significant decisions.

Adams commented, “Every decision the Speaker has taken in the House has been with the full consent of his fellow lawmakers.

He consults the members and gets their opinions.” The motion, seconded by Hon. Sa’ad Olumoh, demonstrated the assembly’s united front in supporting the Speaker’s leadership style.

Deputy Majority Leader Adedamola Richard Kasunmu added his voice to the motion, affirming the legislators’ collective confidence.

“We have absolute confidence in his leadership,” Kasunmu remarked, noting that the vote of confidence was the Assembly’s way of endorsing Speaker Obasa’s efforts to lead the House towards progressive law-making.

As part of the celebrations, lawmakers lauded Speaker Obasa’s contributions to public service and democracy. Hon. Gbolahan Yishawu (Eti-Osa 2) expressed his appreciation, saying, “I celebrate my Speaker and note his impactful leadership.

On behalf of my constituents in Eti-Osa, I wish him a happy birthday.” Hon. Nureni Akinsanya echoed these sentiments, commending Speaker Obasa’s loyalty and dedication to his values.

“No matter the circumstances, Obasa stands by you. I pray to Almighty Allah to grant him more wisdom and to bless him and his family,” Akinsanya added.

Hon. Aro Moshood also shared heartfelt birthday wishes, recognising Speaker Obasa’s dedication to Lagos and Nigeria, as well as his transformative role in the Assembly.

Other Assembly members extended their congratulations, wishing him a life of continued achievements.

In honour of his birthday and accomplishments, the Assembly presented a commemorative video showcasing Speaker Obasa’s impactful contributions to significant laws passed under his leadership.

The tribute highlighted his influence in shaping policies that enhance the welfare of Lagos residents and reinforce democratic values.

As Speaker Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa marks his 52nd year, the Lagos State House of Assembly’s vote of confidence serves as a testament to his leadership and commitment to Lagos’s democratic progress.
