Obasa reaffirmed the legislature’s commitment to ensuring peace across all local government areas of Lagos, emphasising the importance of cooperation between the Assembly and security agencies to maintain stability.

He commended the Nigerian Army for their dedication to Nigeria’s security and praised Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his policies, which have contributed to the state’s growth.

“We are always ready to collaborate with the Army. Just call on us when needed. Our goal is to ensure that the interests and rights of the people are protected and that peace is maintained,” Obasa stated.

Brigadier General Oyekola, newly appointed to the position, expressed his appreciation for the warm reception and highlighted the need for continued peace in Lagos, describing the state as already peaceful.

He assured that the Nigerian Army remains committed to protecting Lagosians, while calling for their support as the Army serves as a vital layer of security in the state.

General Oyekola resumed his duties at the 9 Brigade’s Headquarters in Ikeja, Lagos, on August 21, 2024, after previously serving as Chief of Staff at the Headquarters of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI.
