FCT Police foil kidnap attempt on couple in Abuja gun battle

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 150 suspects and recovered unregistered motorcycles, firearms and suspected stolen items during a major raid under Operation KO S’AYE in the Igando and Idimu areas

The Lagos State Police Command on Sunday arrested 150 suspects and recovered a significant cache of unregistered motorcycles, firearms, suspected stolen items and illicit drugs during a coordinated early-morning raid on criminal hideouts in the Igando and Idimu areas of the state.

The operation, conducted under the ongoing Operation KO S’AYE, targeted black spots including Boolar and Okofilling Bus Stop in the Area M, Idimu axis, following credible intelligence.

State Police Public Relations Officer SP Abimbola Adebisi confirmed the details in a statement issued on Monday. The raid, which began around 5:45 a.m., involved a joint team of operatives from various formations within the Command.

“As part of the ongoing Operation KO S’AYE, the Lagos State Police Command has sustained its aggressive clearance operations against criminal hideouts across the state, in line with the Command’s commitment to ensuring that there is no safe haven for criminals,” Adebisi said.

Exhibits recovered during the operation included 100 unregistered motorcycles, 54 mobile phones, one double-barrel gun, two single-barrel guns, one locally made double-barrel short gun, two military camouflage uniforms, assorted charms, six generators suspected to have been stolen, substances suspected to be Indian hemp and other illicit drugs.

All suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue to establish their individual levels of involvement in criminal activities. Those found culpable will be charged to court accordingly.

Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai commended the operatives for their professionalism and reaffirmed the Command’s dedication to sustaining the anti-crime drive.

He emphasised that Operation KO S’AYE would continue to deny criminals safe havens and enhance the safety of residents across Lagos.

The Commissioner appealed to members of the public to provide timely and credible information to assist police efforts, urging residents to report emergencies through the Command’s designated lines.

Launched to tackle cultism, armed robbery, drug-related offences and other violent crimes, Operation KO S’AYE represents a sustained, intelligence-led effort to improve public safety and dismantle criminal networks in the state.
