Lagos teen abduction case sees two women charged in court, granted bail after pleading not guilty to conspiracy and abduction
The Nigeria Police Force on Wednesday arraigned Funke Aire, 50, and Divine Richard, 27, before a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Badagry over the alleged abduction of a 13-year-old girl.

Funke Aire and Divine Richard are facing charges of conspiracy and abduction.
The defendants, whose residential addresses were not disclosed, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Prosecutor ASP Edet Ekpo told the court that the offences were committed on 12 March at about 9:23 p.m. at Agbomimo, by First Storey Building, Badagry.
He alleged that the defendants conspired to abduct the minor without the consent of her parents.
According to the prosecution, the defendants were apprehended by members of the public and subsequently handed over to the police for prosecution.
The offences, the prosecutor said, contravene Sections 268 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Chief Magistrate Nurudeen Layeni granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 each with two sureties in like sum.
The court ruled that one surety must be a company director or a recognised community leader.

The case was adjourned until 23 April 2026 for mention.
