Commissioner of Police Olohundare Jimoh confirmed the arrests on Monday, stating that operatives of Ago-Okota Division apprehended the suspects aged 23, 25, 27, and 36 on July 16.
According to Jimoh, the four, all staff of an educational consultancy, posed as agents capable of securing Canadian and Australian work visas. They reportedly collected funds from more than 100 victims under false pretenses.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects fraudulently obtained over N500 million. They are currently in police custody and will be charged to court once investigations are concluded,” Jimoh said.
The Commissioner added that efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the syndicate still at large.
