Both players enter matchday five under growing pressure, with their clubs hovering dangerously close to the edge of the league-phase qualification spots.
Atalanta sit 13th on seven points from four matches.
Their campaign has mixed solid defensive resilience with moments of instability, including a damaging 4–0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain on the opening weekend.
The Italian side have nevertheless kept three clean sheets, placing them among the competition’s more defensively consistent teams.
Wednesday’s meeting with Eintracht Frankfurt offers Atalanta a vital chance to break into the top eight automatic qualification places.
Frankfurt, meanwhile, occupy one of the final playoff berths after a 1–1 draw with Napoli followed two heavy 5–1 defeats to Atletico Madrid and Liverpool.
Lookman’s season has been turbulent.
After a reported disagreement with former coach Ivan Juric during the win over Marseille, he has scored just once in 11 matches across all competitions.
The club’s domestic struggles created further turmoil, with Juric dismissed after winning only two of 13 Serie A games.
New coach Raffaele Palladino has attempted to steady the side and offered strong public backing for Lookman.
Palladino described the forward as central to his tactical blueprint, adding that he had personally spoken to Lookman during the international break to reaffirm his support.
His faith arrives amid persistent transfer interest, with Galatasaray considering a move worth €50 million.
Fellow Nigerian international Victor Osimhen is understood to be encouraging Lookman to join the Turkish champions.
Onyedika and his Brugge teammates face an equally demanding assignment away to Sporting Lisbon.
Brugge have taken only four points from four matches, leaving them 22nd in the standings and in danger of slipping out of playoff contention.
Their only victory came on the opening matchday against Monaco, with subsequent draws and defeats derailing early momentum.
Onyedika has been one of the Belgian side’s brighter performers, scoring once in two Champions League appearances and earning praise for his composed midfield display in the 3–3 draw with Barcelona.
His form has attracted renewed transfer interest, with Galatasaray, Premier League clubs and several Serie A sides monitoring him.
Brugge are expected to demand at least €20 million for the midfielder, whose contract runs until 2027.
