Bamidele Adeleke, a 52-year-old man, stood before a Grade ‘A’ Customary Court in Iyaganku, Ibadan, Oyo State, on Monday, accused of stealing 200 high voltage batteries valued at N2 million.
Adeleke, whose address was not disclosed, faces charges of theft, as presented by Mr. Philip Amusan, the Prosecutor. According to Amusan, the alleged theft occurred on April 8 within the vicinity of the University of Ibadan, where Adeleke purportedly stole batteries from I.H.S Telecommunications. The prosecutor cited a violation of Section 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
During the proceedings, Adeleke pleaded not guilty to the charges. In response, Mrs. Moji Aworemi, the chief magistrate, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties.
The case has been adjourned until May 9 for further hearing, as the legal process unfolds to determine Adeleke’s innocence or guilt in the alleged theft of the high voltage batteries.
