According to a statement from Lawan Shiisu, the police spokesperson for Jigawa State, the incident occurred around 10 a.m. when operatives were alerted and rushed to the scene.
Shiisu explained that upon arrival, officers found the man’s lifeless body under a slab containing the armoured cables, which were connected to a high-voltage power source.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the man was electrocuted while trying to vandalize the cables.
Upon arrival, the police officers discovered the lifeless body of an unidentified male adult under a slab that contained armoured cables.
“A team of policemen led by the divisional police officer of Dutse division responded to the call,” the statement read. “Upon arrival, the police officers discovered the lifeless body of an unidentified male adult under a slab that contained armoured cables.”
The deceased’s body has been taken to the morgue for further examination.
Condemning the act, the police spokesperson warned the public against engaging in dangerous and illegal activities such as cable theft.
He urged residents to stay alert and report any suspicious behavior to the nearest police station.

“As the investigation progresses, the command will provide additional updates.” Shiisu added.
