Man Utd confident of beating Man City to Elliot Anderson deal

Manchester United are reportedly optimistic of beating Manchester City to sign Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson this summer

Manchester United are reportedly optimistic about beating Manchester City to the signing of Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson in a developing transfer battle between the Premier League rivals.

The Red Devils are pushing to strengthen their squad ahead of next season under manager Michael Carrick, with midfield reinforcement identified as a priority in the summer window.

United have already completed a deal for Brazil international Ederson in a £35 million agreement with Atalanta, marking their first major signing of the summer.

However, Carrick is understood to be demanding further additions in midfield, especially with Casemiro already leaving Old Trafford and Manuel Ugarte facing an uncertain future.

According to reports, Manchester City had initially identified Anderson as a key target and submitted an £80 million bid, which was rejected by Nottingham Forest.

The Premier League champions are preparing another offer as they continue their pursuit of the England midfielder.

Despite City’s strong interest, Manchester United believe the player has not yet made a final decision on his future.

The club is said to be confident that Anderson could still be convinced to choose Old Trafford over the Etihad Stadium.

Anderson, who joined Nottingham Forest from Newcastle United in 2024 on a five-year deal, has quickly developed into one of the most highly rated young midfielders in English football.

The transfer battle is expected to intensify as both Manchester clubs prepare fresh moves in what could become one of the most competitive deals of the summer window.
