Manchester United Osimhen transfer gains momentum as Patrice Evra urges club to sign Nigeria striker from Galatasaray

Former Manchester United F.C. defender Patrice Evra has identified Victor Osimhen as the ideal signing for the Premier League club ahead of next season, amid renewed discussions surrounding the Manchester United Osimhen transfer speculation.

Speaking in an interview with GOAL on Monday, 25 May 2026, Evra said Manchester United require a proven striker capable of transforming the team’s attacking fortunes and named the Nigeria international as his preferred choice.

Victor Osimhen, currently playing for Galatasaray S.K., has consistently been linked with a move to England over recent transfer windows, although no agreement has yet materialised despite reported interest from several Premier League clubs.

The striker has remained in sensational form in Turkey, helping Galatasaray secure consecutive league titles while continuing to strengthen his reputation as one of Europe’s most prolific forwards.

Before his move to Turkey, Osimhen played a decisive role in leading S.S.C. Napoli to their first Serie A title in 33 years.

Discussing the Manchester United Osimhen transfer possibility, Evra stressed that the club requires greater attacking depth if it hopes to compete across multiple competitions next season.

Evra said he respected the current forwards at Old Trafford but argued that elite clubs traditionally rely on several high-level strikers to maintain competitiveness throughout demanding campaigns.

He added that Osimhen possesses the quality and mentality needed to make a decisive impact.

Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha has also previously backed a move for Osimhen, describing the Nigerian forward as a transformational figure with the personality, experience and leadership qualities capable of thriving under pressure at Old Trafford.

Saha highlighted Osimhen’s successful spells in France, Italy and Turkey, as well as his Champions League experience, arguing that the forward’s character would significantly strengthen the current Manchester United squad.

Another former United defender, Rio Ferdinand, had earlier urged the club to pursue Osimhen before his eventual switch to Galatasaray.

Reports now suggest the Turkish champions value the striker at around €150 million, potentially making any future Manchester United Osimhen transfer considerably more expensive than previous windows.
