Several months after an explosion occured at the oil field of Abaeze in Ohaji Egbema local government area of Imo state, another explosion has occurred at Obitti community, precisely at the Rubber Estate in the same territory.

Freelanews gathered from a source that no fewer than 25 persons died in the inferno that resulted from the explosion Tuesday.

It was also gathered that the incident occurred when the perpetrators dug a hole in the premises and connected a hose from the hole to their tanker vehicle where the crude oil was being transferred to.

The Imo Police Command’s spokesman, ASP Henry Okoye, confirmed the incident and added that the Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, has set up a high powered investigative team to ascertain the cause of the incident.
