[dropcap]K[/dropcap]ylian Mbappé, the France and Real Madrid striker, has indicated he will reserve any explanations for the Swedish justice system regarding a rape investigation, as confirmed by his lawyer on Thursday.
Marie-Alix Canu-Bernard, speaking to AFP, stated, “He prioritises providing his explanations, if required, to the Swedish judiciary,” while strongly condemning media allegations that Mbappé had commented on the events of his recent trip to Stockholm.

Reports from French outlets, including Le Parisien and RMC Sports, emerged on Thursday, suggesting that the 24-year-old athlete engaged in consensual sex with a young woman during his visit to Sweden last week.
According to these reports, Mbappé allegedly possesses messages from the woman reflecting a positive tone, describing their encounter as happy and consensual.
However, Le Parisien could not confirm whether the complainant in the ongoing rape case is the same individual who sent those messages.
Mbappé’s trip to Stockholm occurred between 9 and 11 October, during which he was excluded from the French national squad for Nations League matches due to discomfort in his left thigh.
While in Sweden, he reportedly visited a restaurant and a nightclub with a group of friends. Following their departure, a woman filed a police report claiming she was a victim of rape.
On Monday, after Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet reported the initiation of a rape investigation, Mbappé took to social media to denounce the allegations as “fake news,” implying a connection to a financial dispute with his former club, Paris Saint-Germain.
He expressed his frustrations on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “It’s becoming so predictable, the day before the hearing, as if by coincidence.”
A Swedish prosecutor has confirmed the opening of an investigation but has not publicly named Mbappé. His lawyer, Canu-Bernard, reassured that the 2018 World Cup winner felt “at ease” because “he has done nothing wrong.”
