African stars deliver decisive impact across Europe

Hull City winger Mohamed Belloumi delivered a standout display as Mohamed Belloumi Shines became the defining narrative of a weekend that saw African players influence matches across Europe’s leading football leagues.

The 22-year-old Algeria international struck twice in quick succession during Hull City’s 2-2 Premier League draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Mohamed Belloumi found the net twice within six first-half minutes, marking his first league goals of the campaign and extending Hull City’s unbeaten run to four matches following promotion.

Mohamed Belloumi’s second effort took a fortunate touch off Chelsea defenders, yet the winger’s sharp movement and composure under pressure underlined a confident start to life in England’s top flight after the club’s decade-long absence.

Elsewhere in England, 20-year-old midfielder Malick Yalcouye continued his promising rise with Brighton and Hove Albion.

The Mali-born player, who has represented Ivory Coast at under-23 level, scored in a commanding 5-0 victory over Coventry City, accelerating past defenders before finishing clinically for his second goal of the season.

In Spain, Athletic Bilbao forward Inaki Williams rescued a point in a 1-1 draw against Elche.

The 32-year-old Ghana international showed experience and instinct, applying a delicate touch from close range to secure his first goal of the La Liga campaign.

Italy also saw Nigerian striker Akor Adams make his mark despite Venezia’s 4-2 defeat to Fiorentina.

Akor Adams briefly lifted the home side with a well-taken strike from inside the penalty area, highlighting individual quality even as the team struggled.

In Germany, Cameroon forward Christian Kofane opened the scoring for Bayer Leverkusen in a 2-2 draw at Augsburg.

The 20-year-old calmly converted a precise pass from Edmond Tapsoba, displaying composure beyond his years.

Borussia Dortmund forward Serhou Guirassy, although denied twice by offside decisions, contributed decisively by assisting the opening goal in a 3-0 victory over Paderborn.

France provided its own late drama as Senegal international Abdallah Sima sparked a comeback for Lens in a 2-2 draw at Le Mans.

Abdallah Sima’s first league goal of the season, a well-placed header before half-time, shifted momentum and set the tone for a resilient second-half performance.

The latest round of fixtures reflects a broader trend of African players playing increasingly pivotal roles in Europe’s elite competitions.

With the season still in its early stages, performances such as these offer a compelling glimpse into the growing influence and depth of African footballers on the global stage.
