Dave Umahi, the minister of works, stated yesterday that N18.6 trillion will be needed to solve the road sector over the following four years.
He issued a challenge to the National Assembly to devise novel approaches to tackle the obstacles facing the road industry.
The minister disclosed this information to the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations, which is chaired by Abubakar Bichi, during the budget defense for a total supplemental budget of N2.1 trillion.
I have to compare the situation to that of a man on life support when you ask me to go and assist on certain roads that have collapsed. The man requires immediate assistance.
An emergency is required when there is a road closure, people are in pain, and traffic is halted.
“So, we appeal for contingency to respect your directives on fixing emergency situations.”
