NAFDAC seals illegal cosmetic facility in Agege, Lagos, exposing harmful bleaching products falsely marketed as organic skincare

NAFDAC seals illegal cosmetic facility in Agege, Lagos, after uncovering the unlawful production of bleaching products falsely labelled as organic.

The facility, identified as Shine Shine Skincare, was shut down following an enforcement operation that exposed the unsafe and deceptive practices.

The products, marketed as safe and natural, were being produced under poor Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) conditions.

NAFDAC described the discovery as alarming, stressing that the so-called organic cosmetics posed a serious risk to public health. The agency reaffirmed its commitment to protecting Nigerians from dangerous and substandard products in the market.

Officials disclosed that harmful bleaching cosmetics were being mixed and packaged in unhygienic conditions, misleading consumers into believing they were purchasing natural skincare products.

The agency urged consumers to remain vigilant when buying skincare items and to report suspicious products. It also warned producers against engaging in illegal operations, emphasising that enforcement will remain relentless.

The sealing of Shine Shine Skincare underscores NAFDAC’s zero-tolerance stance on illicit cosmetics production and its drive to safeguard public health through strict regulatory oversight.
