Adeleke encourages Davido after Grammy loss as singer shares faith and gratitude following Best African Music Performance result
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has offered words of encouragement to Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, following the singer’s loss at the 2026 Grammy Awards.

David Adeleke shared a message of faith on his X handle on Monday, posting photographs from the ceremony alongside the words in pidgin English, “Oluwa Dey my side,” meaning “God is on my side.”
Ademola Adeleke, a known supporter of his nephew’s music career, responded publicly to the post, writing, “Proud of you always @davido.”
David Adeleke replied, “Love u Excellency!!! We move ACCORDINGLY SIR,” reflecting a resilient mood despite the outcome.
David Adeleke had been nominated in the Best African Music Performance category for the song “With You,” a collaboration with Omah Lay.
The award went to South African singer Tyla, marking her second win in the category after her earlier success with “Water.”
