Police bust kidnapper hideout in Nasarawa, arrest suspect and recover rifles during intelligence-led operation in Keana LGA

The development was disclosed on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Ramhan Nansel, who said the operation followed credible intelligence gathered by security operatives.

Nansel explained that officers from the State Intelligence Department carried out the operation in the rural community after tracking the suspected criminal activity in the area.

“Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the State Intelligence Department successfully busted the hideout of a notorious kidnapper at Gidan Akuya Village in Keana LGA,” the spokesperson said.

According to the police, the suspects attempted to flee upon sighting the operatives, but officers immediately pursued them, leading to the arrest of one individual.

A search of the hideout resulted in the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, an empty magazine, and a locally fabricated rifle, which were seized as exhibits.

During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to participating in several kidnapping operations within the Keana and Awe axis of the state.

Police authorities said the suspect has also provided valuable information expected to assist investigators in tracking down other members of the gang who escaped during the raid.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Shetima Jauro-Mohammed, has directed operatives to intensify efforts to locate and arrest the fleeing suspects to ensure they face justice.
