The governorship candidate of Labour Party (LP) in Nasarawa State, Joseph Ewuga, has stepped down to support the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), David Ombugadu, in the forthcoming gubernatorial election.

Ewuga declared his support for Ombugadu on Wednesday in Akwanga Local Government Area of the state.

According to him, he was no longer in the race for the governorship seat and appealed to his supporters to vote for the PDP candidate in the forthcoming election.

“I have decided to step down from the governorship race to fully support my brother from the People’s Democratic Party, David Ombugadu.

“I believe he has great plans for our dear state and if he is voted into office, he will ensure that the 13 LGAs of the state is developed.

“So, I am calling on all my supporters and followers all over Nasarawa State to come out en-mass in the governorship and State assembly’s elections and vote for Dr. David Ombugadu, to enable all residents of the state enjoy the dividends of democracy for the next four years,” he said.

Also speaking, former Minister of Information and Director-General of the State PDP Campaign Council, Labaran Maku, said his party and the Labour Party decided to come together to rescue the state from the mis-governance of the APC-led administration.

He alleged plans by the state APC to rig the elections through mass thumb printing, compromising of the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS) machines and stopping people from voting, saying that PDP will not allow such plans to work.

He said the antics of the State APC to manipulate the elections have been reported to the appropriate authorities for prompt action.

“Any attempt to rig the elections and usurp the will of the masses will be resisted by the people,” Maku said.

On his part, Leader of LP support groups in the state, Jerry Thomas said the resolve of the party to support Ombugadu was to ensure good governance in the state.

“I am calling on the obedient family who believe in credibility, competency and character of Peter Obi to come out en-masse and vote the PDP candidate in the forthcoming governorship election in the state,” he said.
