Speaking during the early hours of Friday at the ongoing October 2025 edition of the popular worship programme, Bassey said he often led sessions of praise and prayer while silently enduring personal pain.
He recounted moments when his wife was hospitalised, yet he would leave her bedside to lead the nightly Hallelujah Challenge, which runs for 25 days from October 7 to 31. Each session begins at 11:59 p.m. and draws thousands of participants worldwide.
“My wife will have to forgive me,” Bassey said with emotion. “Do you know there were times during the Hallelujah Challenge when we had a miscarriage, and nobody knew? I would still come online to praise and dance.”
He continued, “A few years ago, she was in the hospital with an ectopic pregnancy.
I would leave, lead praise and worship online, then return to the hospital, and the nurses attending to her would tell me, ‘It was powerful tonight.’ Not one, not two, not three or four pregnancies, but five.”
The Nathaniel Bassey miscarriage story underscores his resilience and commitment to ministry, even in times of grief. Married to Sarah since 2013, the singer described how faith carried them through seasons of loss and despair.
Bassey urged believers not to give up on God, stressing that divine faithfulness often shines brightest in adversity.
“When people ask, ‘Where is God?’ I say, I understand. God is faithful. One of the words He gave us was, ‘Don’t give up on God.’”
The ongoing Hallelujah Challenge, now in its eighth year, continues to attract thousands of worshippers across continents, uniting them in praise, fasting, and prayer.
