another Nigerian national, identified simply as Chikuwuma, has been apprehended by Indian authorities in Bengaluru for a similar offence.
According to a report by India Today, operatives of the Central Crime Branch’s Narcotics Wing arrested Chikuwuma during a raid in the Avalahalli area of northern Bengaluru.
He was caught red-handed while attempting to distribute hard drugs including MDMA and crystal substances. The seized narcotics are valued at approximately Rs 1.2 crore, which is equivalent to about ₦214 million.
The arrest was part of a broader crackdown by Indian authorities targeting international drug syndicates.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Chikuwuma had been involved in drug trafficking since 2013, allegedly importing narcotics into India and distributing them, especially in Bengaluru’s outskirts.
Security agencies believe he is part of a wider international network, and surveillance had been ongoing for weeks prior to his arrest.
Authorities are now intensifying efforts to dismantle the drug syndicate and apprehend other suspects linked to the operation.
Chikuwuma will remain in custody as investigations continue, joining a growing list of Nigerian nationals currently facing prosecution in India over drug-related offences.
