NITDA’s Director-General, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, recently outlined the agency’s vision for Nigeria, emphasizing the importance of technological innovation in driving inclusive economic growth. NITDA aims to achieve 70% digital literacy by 2027, addressing the digital divide and equipping Nigerians with critical digital skills.
Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) have also commended NITDA’s efforts in driving digital transformation and youth empowerment. The Citizens Watch Advocacy Initiative (CWAI), a leading CSO, has endorsed NITDA’s proactive approach to engaging the youthful population in digital literacy.
According to CWAI’s Executive Secretary, Omoba Kenneth Aigbegbele, “NITDA’s initiatives will improve economic productivity, increase skills and knowledge, and enhance employability, ultimately driving Nigeria’s economic growth and global competitiveness.”
CWAI also notes that NITDA’s efforts will increase the dividends of democracy, as a educated and healthy youthful population can provide a boost to economic development, reducing dependency ratios. The agency’s initiatives will also increase economic productivity, as a large portion of working-age individuals can drive economic growth through increased labor force participation, innovation, and consumer demand.
