Nollywood actor Okunnu fires back at Olasco Films over a 16-year unpaid movie debt, vowing to end his silence in a dramatic confrontation

Wale Akorede, popularly known as Okunnu, has publicly fired back at Olasco Films, following accusations that he is ungrateful.

The dispute centres on a 16-year-old debt related to a film Okunnu produced and directed for Olasco Films, for which he claims he never received his rightful share of the earnings.

Olasco Films had previously asserted in an interview with Tunde Ola-Yusuf that it paid Okunnu N2 million for the production, branding the actor an ingrate.

In response, Okunnu took to Instagram under the interviewer’s comment section, warning that he would confront Olasco Films “in a BIG way,” signalling the end of his 16 years of silence on the matter.

“I’m still coming for you in a BIG way. My silence for 16 years is coming soon,” he wrote.

The confrontation highlights longstanding tensions within the Nollywood industry regarding remuneration, intellectual property, and accountability in film production.

Industry analysts say the dispute may spark renewed discussions about the contractual protections for actors and filmmakers in Nigeria, emphasising the importance of transparent agreements and timely payments.
