A 15-year-old girl has been freed by the Lagos Magistrates’ Court after she was accused of killing her father’s 51-year-old friend identified as Babatunde Ishola.
Indeed, she killed him but this was after her father’s friend tried to rape her.
Her release comes after the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecution stated that the case lacked some element that can pin the girl to the murder of the man.
The presiding magistrate, Mr. Philip Ojo in his judgment revealed that the facts at hand were very insufficient so no prima facie can be established.
After her first appearance in court, this teenage girl was remanded at the Correctional Home for Girls, Idi-Araba as the case was adjourned.
After the ruling, the Director, Lagos Office of the Public Defender, Dr. Babajide Martins couldn’t hold back his satisfaction with the decision.
