‘Not only Sagamu, don’t touch OGD’s properties in Ijebu Ode too’, court tells Dapo Abiodun in a new ruling halting government actions across Ogun East
Ogun State High Court in Ijebu Ode has warned Governor Dapo Abiodun not to touch Otunba Gbenga Daniel’s properties both in Sagamu and Ijebu Ode on Thursday.

An interim injunction was issued restraining the Ogun State Government from demolishing or interfering with any properties owned by Otunba Gbenga Daniel and Conference Hotel Limited.
Justice A.A. Omoniyi granted the order following an application by the former governor and his company, in suit number HCJ/125/2025.
The court specifically barred the Governor of Ogun State, the Attorney General, and relevant planning authorities from tampering with the properties in Ijebu Ode and anywhere else in Ogun East or the state at large.
The ruling came after the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority served “Quit Notices” on August 8, 2025, on Daniel’s Asoludero Court residence and the Conference Hotel in Sagamu, citing alleged building contraventions based on a 2022 planning law.
But the court’s message was loud and clear: Not only Sagamu, don’t touch OGD’s properties in Ijebu Ode too, court tells Dapo Abiodun; a directive that now blocks further government action on those sites pending a final ruling.
The applicants’ legal team, led by A.M. Kotoye (SAN), argued that the buildings predate the referenced law and that the sudden notices and threats of demolition were politically motivated.
They pointed to a pattern of targeting the Daniel family, recalling the controversial demolition of DATKEM Plaza in Ijebu Ode in 2023.
The government’s replacement of the original notices with sealing and demolition orders on August 11 only fueled suspicions of a political vendetta—especially with the 2027 elections drawing closer.
The injunction was granted “as prayed,” effectively stopping any further enforcement actions until the Motion on Notice is heard on August 22, 2025.

The judiciary has now cast a wider legal shield over Daniel’s assets and sent a strong signal to the government about the limits of executive overreach.
