He said the former president, who serves as the association’s Grand Patron, had pledged his support for the initiative and agreed to commission the factory upon completion.
Obukwelu noted that work on the facility was progressing with strict attention to quality in design, materials, and installation.
“The factory will create jobs for members and the host community, generate sustainable revenue, enhance NOUNAA’s visibility, and serve as a hub for training and entrepreneurship,” he said.
He expressed gratitude to Obasanjo for his encouragement, which he described as a reinforcement of the alumni body’s determination to deliver a project worthy of both the association and the university.
The alumni leader also highlighted other projects currently underway, including the installation of solar-powered streetlights across 17 study centres, a scholarship programme, and the activation of the alumni portal for graduate verification and engagement.
Obukwelu urged members to remain united, committed, and focused on accountability, professionalism, and service.
He assured that the leadership would continue to uphold transparency in all projects, noting that the association’s vision remained strong and forward-looking.
