Ogun kidnapping murder arrest confirmed as police detain suspect who allegedly killed a 16-year-old girl after collecting ransom in Sagamu
Operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 30-year-old man, Bayegun Nathaniel, over the alleged abduction and killing of 16-year-old Adegbaaju Florence in the Ogijo area of Sagamu Local Government Area.

The kidnapping murder arrest was confirmed by police spokesperson DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, who said the suspect was tracked and detained following sustained intelligence-led operations launched immediately after the incident was reported.
According to the police, the victim was abducted on Wednesday, 8 April 2026, at about 5pm in Ogijo, prompting the activation of a coordinated response by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit.
Investigators said intelligence gathering and strategic surveillance eventually led to the arrest of the suspect on Saturday, 2 May 2026, at about 2pm.
Police further alleged that despite receiving a ransom of N500,000, the suspect killed the victim and disposed of her body in a river within the area.
DSP Babaseyi stated that efforts were ongoing to recover the remains for forensic examination, adding that investigations remained active to ensure a comprehensive conclusion of the case.
Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, expressed condolences to the bereaved family and assured that justice would be pursued with urgency and diligence.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and ensuring that perpetrators of violent crime are brought to justice.

The case has sparked renewed concern within the community over rising incidents of kidnapping and violent crime in parts of the state.
