The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a middle-aged woman filmed wielding a knife and confronting police officers following her alleged arrest over the sale of cannabis in Ijebu Igbo, Ijebu North Local Government Area.
Oluseyi Babaseyi, Police Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Command, confirmed the arrest on Friday, October 2, saying investigators had opened an inquiry into the incident.

“The suspect has been arrested and the matter is already under investigation,” Babaseyi said.
The arrest followed the circulation of a video showing the woman, dressed in a green gown, sitting inside a vehicle while directing insults and threats towards police officers.
The woman was allegedly being questioned or detained in connection with the sale of cannabis, commonly referred to as Indian hemp.
In the video, she appeared agitated as she challenged the officers over what she described as repeated harassment.
“Why are you troubling us, are we the only ones selling Indian hemp?” the woman said in Yoruba.
She subsequently stepped out of the vehicle while holding a knife and moved towards a young woman believed to be one of the officers involved in the confrontation.
The circumstances leading to the arrest, including what prompted the initial police intervention and whether cannabis was recovered, have not been fully disclosed by the command.
The police have also not publicly stated the specific offences for which the woman is being investigated.
Oluwasina Ogungbade, Ogun State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, separately confirmed that he had contacted the Commissioner of Police regarding the incident.
Ogungbade said the police informed him that the suspect would be charged to court on Friday.
“I have contacted the CP over the viral video and I was told that the woman will be charged to court today,” Ogungbade said.
The development means the case is expected to move from police investigation to judicial proceedings, although the specific charges will depend on the outcome of the investigation and the evidence presented before the court.
The video has drawn attention because of the apparent confrontation between the woman and the officers and the presence of a knife during the exchange.
Police authorities have not disclosed whether any officer sustained injuries or whether the knife was recovered from the suspect.
