Olota of Otta, Oba Professor Adeyemi Obalanlege, visited GOC 81 Division in Lagos, expressing deep condolences for the late Lt. General Lagbaja

[dropcap]I[/dropcap]n a solemn display of solidarity, His Majesty, Oba Professor Adeyemi Abdukabir Obalanlege, the Olota of Otta, paid a condolence visit to the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 81 Division of the Nigerian Army in Lagos on 13th November 2024.

This visit follows the recent passing of Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja.

His Majesty, fondly known as Lanlege Ekun II, Arole Iganmode, was warmly welcomed by the Division’s leadership, led by Major General F.U. Mijinwaya.

During this solemn interaction, Oba Obalanlege expressed his profound respect for the Nigerian Army’s dedication to security and stability, commending Major General Mijinwaya for his steadfast efforts within the Division’s jurisdiction.

The visit served as a tribute to the late Lt. General Lagbaja, whose untimely passing has left a significant void in Nigeria’s military leadership.

His Majesty noted that Lt. General Lagbaja’s disciplined leadership and unwavering commitment to national security were unparalleled, describing his contribution as an inspiring model of service. According to Oba Obalanlege, the General’s legacy represents the pinnacle of professionalism and dedication, and his loss is a setback to Nigeria’s efforts in safeguarding its citizens.

Expressing his condolences, the Olota conveyed his sympathy to Nigeria’s President, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the bereaved Lagbaja family, and the Nigerian Armed Forces, recognising the Chief’s contributions as truly irreplaceable.

His Majesty urged the nation to uphold the values of commitment and duty demonstrated by the late Chief, advocating for these ideals to continue shaping the future of Nigeria’s defence forces.

The Olota of Otta was accompanied by a distinguished delegation, including High Chief Olarenwaju Bashorun, Seriki of Otta; Baale Jamiu Komolafe of Ipamesan Oke, Otta; and Captain Aremu Adebowale Ojo (Rtd).

The presence of this esteemed group underscored the deep respect and solidarity of the Otta community with the Nigerian Army during this period of national mourning.

The funeral for the late Lt. General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja is scheduled for Friday, 15th November 2024.
