Ondo Landlady Poisoning case sees Nafisat Lateef arrested after allegedly forcing toxic substance on three-year-old Abdulrasheed
Ondo State Police Command has arrested Nafisat Lateef, a 40-year-old landlady, for allegedly poisoning a three-year-old boy, Abdulrasheed, at Omifon community in Odigbo Local Government Area. The arrest was confirmed in Ondo on Thursday, February 6, 2026.

The incident reportedly followed a dispute between Nafisat Lateef and the boy’s mother, Rofiyat, 32.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the suspect allegedly forced a liquid substance suspected to be poisonous into the toddler’s mouth on February 5, 2026.
Detectives from the Odigbo Police Division promptly responded after Rofiyat rushed to the station to report the incident.
The police confirmed that the suspect was arrested along with the liquid substance, and has been providing confessional statements while in custody.
The victim was immediately taken to hospital, where he is receiving treatment for continuous vomiting following ingestion of the substance.
DSP Jimoh stated that the investigation is ongoing and that the case will be charged to court upon its conclusion.
“Police detectives, during a swift and intelligence-led operation, arrested the suspect. The liquid substance was recovered, and further investigation is underway,” DSP Jimoh said.

The police have urged landlords and tenants to resolve disputes amicably, warning that any act endangering children will be treated with the full weight of the law.
