Ọnwa Dezemba 2025 launches in Anambra with a City Block party for Gen Z, featuring music, dance battles, and live performances at Awka City Stadium

Anambra State has officially launched the 2025 Ọnwa Dezemba festival with a City Block party aimed at Gen Z audiences, set to take place at Awka City Stadium by Solution Fun City on December 18 at 6pm. The festival is part of a state-wide celebration of culture, music, and family under the leadership of Governor Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR.

Christian Aburime, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, described the event as a high-energy kickoff for the festive season, combining amapiano, afrobeats, highlife remixes, and hip-hop performances.

The City Block party promises dynamic dance battles, live performances, and interactive entertainment designed to engage young residents and visitors from across the state.

“The City Block party is a full-on explosion of fun, blending global festive trends with local flair. It’s a moment for young Ndi Anambra to connect, celebrate, and make memories that last,” Aburime said.

Security measures have been enhanced to ensure a safe environment, allowing attendees to enjoy the festivities with confidence.

The event will feature surprise guest DJs, pop-up challenges, and performances from emerging local talents, ensuring an immersive and vibrant atmosphere.

This Gen Z-focused celebration is the first in a series of events for Ọnwa Dezemba 2025, which will continue with Christmas carols, traditional masquerades, comedy nights, and the highly anticipated Flavour Home Coming concert.

Aburime encouraged young residents and visitors to participate fully. “Charge up, rally your squad, and get ready to make history. Ọnwa Dezemba will be loud, colourful, and unforgettable. Awka will be the epicentre of festive energy on December 18,” he said.
