Oyo police arrest forgery suspects Ibadan as 10 nabbed in raid uncovering fake government, police and bank documents

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested 10 suspects linked to an alleged document forgery syndicate operating in Ibadan, in what officials described as a decisive crackdown on organised criminal activity.

Oyo police arrest forgery suspects Ibadan operation was carried out by the Command Monitoring Unit at a hideout in the Ogunpa area, following intelligence reports and community cooperation.

Confirming the arrests, Police Public Relations Officer Ayanlade Olayinka said the raid was triggered by actionable intelligence received on April 9 regarding a group specialising in forging official documents, stamps, and certificates belonging to government agencies, financial institutions, and private organisations.

According to Ayanlade Olayinka, operatives swiftly executed a coordinated operation that led to the arrest of 10 individuals, including Mumini Akanbi, Quadri Muhammed, and Salami Tajudeen, among others.

Searches conducted at the suspects’ locations reportedly uncovered a cache of incriminating materials, including forged police character certificates and counterfeit stamps linked to the Nigeria Police Force Criminal Investigation Department, Ogun State CID Eleweran, Iyaganku Area Command, and several government ministries.

Officials also recovered stamps belonging to banks and private organisations, suggesting a wide network of fraudulent activities tied to impersonation and document falsification.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects are part of a well-organised syndicate engaged in producing forged documents for criminal purposes, raising concerns about the scale and reach of such operations.

Police authorities said all suspects have confessed to their involvement and are currently assisting investigators with information that could lead to further arrests and dismantling of the network.
