Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 45-year-old man, Adeniyi Benjamin, for allegedly operating an unlicensed medical facility and treating patients without the required medical qualification or licence.

Benjamin was arrested on October 2, 2026, at about 3:00 p.m. by operatives of the Oyo Police Command Monitoring Unit at his clinic, identified as Life Is Good Hospital, in the Olodo area of Ibadan.

The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday, saying the arrest followed credible intelligence about the activities taking place at the facility.

According to the police, Benjamin was found attending to patients and administering treatments, particularly fertility-related treatments, despite allegedly not being a certified medical doctor.

During the operation, police said several items were recovered from the facility.

They included two weighing scales, four Quantum Magnetic Resonance Body Analysers, one stethoscope, a large carton of assorted medicines and specimen bottles.

The items have been retained as part of the ongoing investigation into the activities allegedly carried out at the facility.

The police spokesperson said preliminary investigation revealed that Benjamin allegedly confessed to practising as a quack medical practitioner for about seven years without a licence to practise medicine.

According to the statement, the suspect also disclosed that he specialised in fertility-related treatment, which he administered to patients at the facility.

The revelation has raised concerns about the potential risks faced by members of the public who may unknowingly seek medical care from unqualified practitioners.

The police particularly highlighted fertility treatment as a sensitive area in which patients could be exposed to serious risks if procedures are carried out by people without the required professional training and regulatory approval.

The Oyo State Police Command said investigation was ongoing to determine the full extent of Benjamin’s activities and establish whether other individuals were connected to the operation of the facility.

The Command said appropriate action would be taken in accordance with the law as the investigation progresses.

Police authorities also urged residents to verify the professional credentials and registration status of anyone offering medical services before entrusting their health or that of their relatives to them.

The Command further appealed to members of the public to report suspicious medical facilities or individuals presenting themselves as medical practitioners without verifiable credentials to the police or relevant regulatory authorities.

The police reaffirmed their commitment to working with regulatory agencies and members of the public to address activities that could endanger the health and safety of residents.
