Papaya Ex police assault allegation surfaces after influencer claims officer attacked her during a late-night stop in Ajah, Lagos

Nigerian social media influencer Abike Raheem, popularly known as Papaya Ex, alleged on Friday that a police officer assaulted her during a late-night encounter in the Ajah area of Lagos.

Papaya Ex made the allegation during an emotional TikTok live session, claiming that what began as a seemingly cordial stop escalated into violence while she was returning home from a movie shoot.

According to the influencer, the officer struck her in the face with a gun, assaulted her driver and touched her inappropriately during the confrontation.

Papaya Ex police assault claims further included allegations that the officer slapped her, hit her buttocks and breasts, and forcibly seized her mobile phone.

Although the alleged incident was not captured on video, Papaya Ex attributed the absence of footage to network issues.

During the live broadcast, the influencer appeared visibly distressed and displayed what appeared to be a wound mark on her face.

Videos circulating on social media show a heated exchange, with an officer heard speaking as both parties argued.

However, the authenticity of the claims and the full circumstances surrounding the incident could not be independently verified as of the time of filing this report.

Papaya Ex also alleged that harassment by police officers is common in the Ajah area, describing the encounter as part of a recurring pattern affecting residents.

The Papaya Ex police assault allegation has since sparked intense reactions online, with many social media users expressing concern and calling for a thorough investigation.

As of press time, the Lagos State Police Command had not issued an official statement addressing the claims.
