A veteran actor and broadcaster, Patrick Rupherford Doyle, has eulogised the governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and stated reasons he would be voting for the governor in the forthcoming election slated for March 11, 2023.

Doyle relished how the governor didn’t waste time in responding to his request to save Henry Nwosu‘s life recently.

He wrote:

My personal assessment of Babajide Sanwo-Olu is that he is a gentleman of worth and dignity, an uncommonly humane and modest person. I will never get over the speed with which he reacted to my request for assistance in saving the life of my ailing schoolmate Henry Nwosu. I made the whimsical request at about 4:30 am via SMS one morning and by 10am he had instructed the top management of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital to do everything they could to save Henry’s life.

Long story short, Henry’s life was saved in a delicate cardiac surgery only , very few hospitals in Africa can perform. The mind-blowing clincher for me was when the medical director of the hospital informed that the procedure was paid for by the governor personally and not through state funds.

It is for this and a plethora of other reasons that I will personally be voting for Babajide Sanwo-Olu in the March 11th governorship elections. Ka’ Re Omoluabi.

Recall that Henry Nwosu, the youngest member of Nigeria’s 1980 AFCON winning Green Eagles, was down with life threatening stroke and urgently in need of medical care.

The mercurial midfielder who played for Nigeria’s senior national team for 11 years was also part of the Green Eagles at AFCON 1982, 1984 and 1988. He retired from international duties for Eagles in 1991 and went into coaching.

Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Congress, who would be facing the Labour Party and Peoples Democratic Party’s candidates in a bid to secure a second term on March 11, 2023, was reputed to have been solely responsible in ensuring that the legend got his life back.
