The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State has raised concerns over the official launch of the E-Mobility Programme by the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government, headed by Prince Dapo Abiodun.
The party expressed its dismay over the extravagant media coverage and public spectacle surrounding this initiative.

While the government under Governor Abiodun has portrayed this programme as a measure to alleviate the consequences of the Federal fuel subsidy removal, the PDP asserted that it is crucial to examine the actual substance and transparency of this project, particularly in light of the lack of specific details disclosed about it.
First and foremost, according to a statement made available to Freelanews, the PDP was keen to ascertain if these Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses are the same as those previously commissioned by the Minister of Transportation, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, in April 2022. A clarification on this matter is vital to ensure accurate information and foster an informed public discourse about the E-Mobility Program.
The PDP also called for transparency regarding the procurement of these vehicles. If these buses were indeed purchased or donated to the Ogun State government, it is imperative to disclose the source of funding and whether they were funded by the Federal government or donated by the Federal Government.
Additionally, details about the cost per unit are essential to provide the public with a comprehensive understanding of the program.
Without these fundamental details, the PDP raised the question of whether the E-Mobility Program is another “white elephant project” designed to serve political interests rather than the welfare and benefit of the citizens.
The party underscores the importance of transparency and accountability in government initiatives, particularly those affecting the livelihoods and well-being of the people.
As discussions around this program continue, the PDP in Ogun State encourages the government to provide clear and transparent information to address these concerns and ensure that the E-Mobility Program serves its intended purpose, benefiting the people of the state.
