Peller reveals why his parents’ wedding appearance upset him

The Nigerian TikTok star says his parents ignored his request for a small ceremony and turned the celebration into a much bigger affair.

Peller reveals why his parents’ wedding appearance upset him

Nigerian TikTok star Hamzat Habeeb Adelaja, popularly known as Peller, on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, expressed frustration over his parents bringing their respective partners to his recent white wedding with fellow content creator Amadou Elizabeth Aminata, popularly known as Jarvis, after the ceremony held in Nigeria on Saturday, August 8.

Peller said the decision went against his request for a relatively small and private celebration, claiming that his parents and other relatives made the occasion much bigger than he had planned.

In a video shared on Wednesday, the content creator said he had specifically asked his parents to invite only a few people to the ceremony.

Peller said his mother arrived with her boyfriend while his father came with his girlfriend, a development he felt changed the character of the celebration.

“I’m tired, I’m tired of all these things. I changed it for them oo, no be small,” Peller said.

“Because I told them to invite just a few people, but my mummy dey carry her own boyfriend come, my daddy carry his own girlfriend come. All of them just turned my wedding to party.”

The remarks have drawn attention because Peller’s wedding had already attracted considerable public interest following months of highly publicised preparations surrounding his relationship with Jarvis.

The couple announced their white wedding date in July, confirming that they would marry on August 1.

The announcement followed their traditional marriage rites and civil wedding, which had also received significant attention online.

Peller’s relationship with Jarvis has become one of the more recognisable partnerships in Nigeria’s digital entertainment space, with the pair building a large following through TikTok videos, livestreams and other social media content.

The wedding preparations also generated considerable online interest, including the announcement of a reported ₦1 million aso-ebi package and several public moments surrounding their engagement and marriage celebrations.

The latest controversy, however, centres on Peller’s family rather than the newlyweds themselves.

Peller described his experience as part of the difficulty associated with growing up in a polygamous family.

“Polygamy is very hard, I’m from a polygamous family,” he said.

A report said Peller also complained that family members wanted to turn the wedding into social media content, adding to his frustration over how the celebration unfolded.

Peller’s comments appear to reflect a desire for greater control over an occasion that had attracted substantial public attention.

His decision to speak openly about the family disagreement has, in turn, brought another personal aspect of the wedding into the public conversation.

Despite the tension, the wedding itself marked an important milestone for Peller and Jarvis after their relationship developed publicly through their work as digital creators.

The couple had completed their traditional marriage rites in Benin City, Edo State, before proceeding with the civil and white wedding ceremonies. Peller had also proposed to Jarvis in Accra, Ghana, in June, with the moment becoming widely discussed on social media.

For Peller, however, the celebrations came with an unexpected family complication.

His comments suggest that the presence of his parents’ partners, alongside the larger turnout, became one of the most memorable and frustrating moments surrounding the wedding.

The incident has added a human and somewhat dramatic layer to what had otherwise been a highly publicised celebration of the couple’s marriage.
